Title (Max 100 Charaters)
ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Opera has added four performances of Rabbit Tales, its newly commissioned children's opera, to its 2011-2012 schedule.
Rabbit Tales is based on the writings of Southern writer Joel Chandler Harris, who popularized the Br'er Rabbit stories in the late 19th century. The libretto was written by Atlanta-based playwright Madeleine St. Romain; the score, composed by flutist and composer Nicole Chamberlain, incorporates melodies and rhythms from African, Cajun and Native American music, as well as blues.
The additional performances will be:
Sunday, Feb. 26 at 3 p.m.
Decatur High School Theatre, 310 North McDonough Street
Wednesday, Mar. 21 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Atlanta Opera Center, 1575 Northside Drive, West Midtown
Saturday, Mar. 24 at 11 a.m.
Fulton County's Southwest Arts Center, 915 New Hope Road, Atlanta
The Atlanta Opera's next production, The Golden Ticket, based on the Willy Wonka stories, will open in March.
