ATLANTA -- Rigoletto, the next production in the Atlanta Opera's 2014-15 season, will begin its run at the end of February.
The opera -- a staple for most companies -- tells the story of hunchback jester Rigoletto, who hopes to protect his daughter Gilda from the Duke of Mantua, a man she grows to love.
Rigoletto was last performed by the Atlanta Opera in 2000. The new production will feature in-demand baritone Todd Thomas in the title role, up-and-coming soprano Nadine Sierra as Gilda and Atlanta native Morris Robinson as assassin Sparafucile.
The Atlanta Opera will perform Rigoletto on Feb. 28 and Mar. 3, 6 and 8. Tickets range in price from $26 to $137 and can be purchased at atlantaopera.org.
