Copeland’s of New Orleans – Atlanta celebrates the spirit of giving

ATLANTA -- Copeland's presented the U.S. Marine Corps with toys and monetary donations on Saturday, December 8.

Staff members were excited to help the cause, and the restaurant offered free appetizers and desserts to patrons who brought toys or donations.

Both Copeland’s locations in Cumberland and Kennesaw will continue to accept toys or monetary donations for Toys for Tots until December 20.

All patrons are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy, and will receive a free appetizer or dessert (up to a $10 value).

FACAA gears up for Georgia Gives Day

ATLANTA -- The Fulton Atlanta Community Action Authority (FACAA) recently announced Georgia Gives Day, to take place on Thursday, December 6.

According to the FACAA, Georgia Gives Day gives people across the state an opportunity to donate to their choice of a nonprofit organization, an effort in total to help change the lives of people in need.

Those participating can donate to a cause nearby by searching locations, or to a cause for a special reason, where organizations are listed by category.

Copeland’s of New Orleans to present U.S. Marines with Toys for Tots donations

ATLANTA — Copeland’s of Atlanta is proud to be supporting the Atlanta chapter of Toys for Tots this holiday season. The presentation of the toys and monetary donations to the U.S. Marine Corps will be on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Copeland’s Cumberland restaurant, located at 3131 Cobb Pkwy S.E., Suite 200, Atlanta, GA 30339.

About Toys for Tots:

 The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, an IRS recognized 51(c) (3) tax exempt not for profit charity, is the authorized fund raising and support organization for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The mission of the Foundation is to provide a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children during Christmas. While the Marines coordinate and manage the program, the Foundation’s success depends on the support of the local community and the generosity of people who donate toys, and that’s why Stevenson Honda has joined this cause.

ATLANTA -- All About Developmental Disabilities (AADD) – Atlanta’s preeminent nonprofit provider of support services for families living with developmental disabilities – is entering its new fiscal year with an updated Board of Directors.  The agency has appointed community volunteer Nancy Rizor; developmental disability service leader Janet P. Deal; and accounting professional Charles T. Lundquist as new additions to its Board of Directors.

ATLANTA -- Atlanta-based Gas South announced Tuesday that it is collecting donations for people affected by Superstorm Sandy.

Gas South employees are now gathering food, clothes and other supplies. On Wednesday morning, they will box the items and ship them to a church in Staten Island, N.Y.

"We are committed to spreading the warmth that we deliver at home here in Georgia to families in need who are impacted by Hurricane Sandy," Gas South president and CEO Kevin Greiner, a native New Yorker, said in a statement.

The Sandy relief effort is part of Gas South Cares, the company's initiative to help the community.

More than 2,000 JROTC cadets from 30 metro Atlanta high schools
to participate in historic fundraising effort

On Saturday, November 3rd and Sunday, November 4th, visitors to metro Atlanta Kroger stores are likely to be met by a smiling, uniformed JROTC cadet with an Empty Stocking Fund logo, as more than 2,000 cadets representing 30 metro Atlanta high schools’ JROTC programs will be working outside metro Kroger stores to raise awareness of and contributions for The Empty Stocking Fund, an Atlanta-based, Atlanta-serving non-profit organization that has been providing holiday gifts to Atlanta’s neediest children since 1926.
