Bank robbery suspect arrested 2 months later

SMYRNA, Ga. -- A 44-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with an attempted bank robbery in Smyrna on April 30.

Meldoshia Winn was taken into custody Tuesday.

Smyrna Police spokesman Capt. Tony Leonard said Winn is accused of trying to rob a Bank of America on South Cobb Drive. Witnesses told police that Winn entered the bank, presented a demand note and showed the teller a gun. When the teller set off a silent alarm and left her window to tell bank management about the robbery, Winn reportedly ran away.

Detectives sent the demand note to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, where crime lab technicians matched fingerprints on the note to Winn, Leonard said.

Winn was arrested in Lithia Springs and processed through the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. She faces charges of robbery, aggravated assault and firearm possession.

KENNESAW, Ga. -- Cobb County Police have named three suspects in a murder case that occurred over the weekend.

The victim, 53-year-old Milton Kelley, was found shot to death in the driveway of his Kennesaw home on Saturday night.

Since then, two men have been taken into custody.

Eighteen-year-old Brandon Love of Woodstock was arrested at an apartment in Smyrna on Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday morning, police arrested 29-year-old Percy Burdine at his Woodstock home. Both men face charges of murder and aggravated assault.

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- An Emerson woman was charged Tuesday with more than 100 counts of forgery after stealing from the law firm where she worked.

Cartersville Police spokesman Lt. Mark Camp said 35-year-old Nicole Abernathy took nearly $45,000 from Law Premises LLC in the Vinings area from February 2010 to November 2011.

Abernathy reportedly took the money and deposited it into her personal account at a Cartersville bank.

Camp said Abernathy faces 128 charges of forgery. She is being held in the Bartow County Jail, where she is awaiting a bond hearing.

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Police have arrested a teenager accused of robbing a Marietta Pizza Hut earlier this week.

The robbery happened at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at 250 Windy Hill Road. Police say three masked men burst into the restaurant, held a female employee at gunpoint and stole her purse. They also grabbed money from the restaurant's cash register before leaving.

The suspects didn't know that a Pizza Hut employee followed them out of the restaurant and saw them run to a house on Dewey Lane, according to Cobb County Police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce.

Thanks to the employee's actions, police were able to arrest 17-year-old Abdul Griffin of Smyrna and charge him with armed robbery.

Griffin is being held without bond in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

SMYRNA, Ga. -- A thief took $600,000 worth of merchandise from a jewelry store earlier this week, Smyrna Police announced Thursday.

The incident happened at around 8 p.m. Tuesday, when a suspect held an employee at gunpoint in the parking lot of Exotic Diamonds on Cumberland Boulevard.

Police said the suspect forced the employee back into the store, where the man took the jewelry and then ran.

Surveillance cameras captured a picture of the suspect, who the employee described as a light-skinned black man.

SMYRNA: Suspect named in Cumberland Mall homicide

SMYRNA, Ga. -- Cobb County Police have named a suspect in a weekend homicide near Cumberland Mall.

Investigators have issued an arrest warrant for 28-year-old Rosano Wensly Bundel of Powder Springs in connection with the death of 29-year-old George B. Tabetando, who was fatally shot Saturday night after a physical altercation that began in the parking lot near Macy's.

Cobb Police Sergeant Dana Pierce said the fight became a chase onto Cumberland Boulevard, where Tabetando was gunned down.

Bundel should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police searching for Vinings bank robber

ATLANTA -- Cobb County police are looking for a man accused of robbing a Vinings bank on Monday morning.

According to investigators and witnesses, the suspect robbed the Fidelity Bank at 3020 Paces Mill Road at about 11 a.m. He walked behind the tellers and took cash from their drawers, one by one, police said.

After stealing the money, witnesses said he ran from the bank, getting away in a dark-colored pickup truck. Nobody was injured.

The suspect is described as a black man, about six feet tall and with an athletic build. He was wearing dark clothing and a green plastic rain poncho during the robbery.
