Suspects nabbed in multiple Cobb robberies

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Cobb County police have arrested two men in connection with at least two fast food restaurant robberies and a home break-in.

Rodney B. Lofton, 21, of Marietta and Deontae Conway, 18, of Dallas are believed to be the men behind a Burger King robbery in Marietta on Aug. 12 and a Zaxby's robbery in Mableton on Aug.

UPDATE: Investigators have arrested a Marietta man in connection with several recent cases of wallet theft at Cobb County grocery stores.

Ricky Waller, 31, has been charged with theft by taking and credit card fraud. He is being held in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

COBB CO., Ga. -- Cobb police are investigating a number of wallet thefts that have occurred in grocery stores throughout the county.

Investigators say the perpetrator takes wallets out of women's purses while they shop for groceries. He then uses the credit cards in the wallets to buy "high-end electronics" at other Cobb stores.

A surveillance camera at one store captured images of the suspect. Police say he is a black man, about 5'11" to 6'2" and 180 to 210 pounds.

Police investigate shooting death of homeless man

SMYRNA, Ga. -- Smyrna police are investigating the case of a man found dead at a local apartment complex.

Warren Broadnax, the homeless victim, was found at the Wyndcliff at Galleria Apartments on Cobb Parkway around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday.

According to investigators, police received a call of shots fired before finding the 55-year-old Broadnax in the complex's parking lot. He was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have determined Broadnax was homeless and lived in his car in the parking lot of Wyndcliff at Galleria.

Smyrna detectives are currently pursuing a number of leads in this case. Anyone with information about Broadnax's death is asked to call 678-631-5146 or 770-434-9481.

Cobb police investigate homicide

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Cobb County investigators are looking for suspects in a recent suspicious death.

On Saturday, July 2, police were dispatched to the area of Circle 75 and Windy Hill Road in Marietta, where the body of a young man was found in some woods near the road.

The victim was discovered by a woman walking in the area.

Police identified the victim as 22-year-old Derrick George Gray Jr. of Smyrna. They have reason to believe that the person or people responsible for his death may drive a silver mid-size sedan with possible damage.

SMYRNA: Suspect sketch released after realtor attacked

SMYRNA, Ga. -- Cobb County Police have released a sketch of the man accused of robbing and trying to sexually assault a real estate agent in Smyrna.

According to investigators, the man entered the office of a new subdivision near Cheyenne Drive shortly before 4 p.m. on June 30 and struck up a conversation with a female realtor.

Cobb County Police Officer Mike Bowman said the suspect then pulled out a gun, robbed the woman and forced her into a bathroom, where he tried to sexually assault her.

The realtor managed to get away, escaping out the back door of the office.

She described her attacker as a black man in his late 20's or early 30's who was wearing a white hat, white T-shirt and dark pants during the attack.

Help needed in suspicious death case

SMYRNA, Ga. -- Cobb County Police Investigators are counting on the public's help in solving a suspicious death case.

A body was discovered at around 8:15 Saturday evening in a wooded area along the side of Circle 75 Drive, about 300 yards south of Windy Hill Road.

Officer Scott Bowman said the body had only been at the scene a short time. Detectives believe a vehicle was stopped in the middle of the roadway between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. and suspect the car is related to the death.

Bowman asks that anyone who may have seen this vehicle or has any information related to this case, call Cobb County Police at 770-499-3945.
