Chick-fil-A to Host Evening with Santa Cow

SMYRNA, GA -- The Smyrna Chick-fil-A restaurant (3100 South Cobb Drive SE, Smyrna, 30080) invites the community to attend a free evening with the Chick-fil-A "Eat Mor Chikin" Santa Cow on Tuesday, Dec. 14.

Customers will have the opportunity to take free pictures with Santa Cow, as well as decorate cookies and make holiday crafts. Gracie the Clown will provide face painting throughout the event, and all guests will receive complimentary hot chocolate.

Pictures with Santa Cow may be picked up at the restaurant on Wednesday, Dec. 15.

"We are excited to have our Santa Cow spend time with our customers and spread some holiday cheer," said franchise operator Stephen Miltiades. "This will be a fun night that parents and children can enjoy together."

The event will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Christmas Comes to Disadvantaged Cobb County Kids

ATLANTA -- The underprivileged youth of Cobb County will have a brighter holiday season this year, thanks to the efforts of a local children's charity.

On Saturday, Dec. 18, Variety of Georgia will present 145 children with stockings, gifts, popcorn and a special screening of a holiday movie at AMC Parkway Point 15 (3101 Cobb Parkway, Atlanta, 30339).

The children, who come from across the county, range in age from five to 13. They will also get a chance to meet Santa Claus and be entertained by a face painter and a balloon artist.

Variety of Georgia aims to enrich and enhance the lives of children who live with disabilities, poverty and neglect, according to the non-profit's Web site. During the celebration on Dec. 18, Variety of Georgia will also donate a mobility bicycle, valued at $3,000, to a physically challenged child in need.

MARIETTA, GA -- Cobb County Purchasing Department staff will host the quarterly "How to Do Business with Cobb County" seminar at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 1772 County Services Parkway, Marietta, 30008, in the bid room.

Topics will include:

* How to become a registered vendor
* How to find bid opportunities
* How to submit bids

The event is free and no registration is required. The meeting will last approximately one hour.

Help Low Income Families by Stuffing a Bus

COBB COUNTY, GA -- Cobb Community Transit and the Cobb Department of Transportation are doing their part to help low income families in the county enjoy the holidays by sponsoring the 2010 Stuff-A-Bus, benefiting Cobb Christmas, Inc.

The public's help is needed for Stuff-A-Bus with donations of money, new toys and gifts, non-perishable food items and gift certificates. Cobb County's generosity will brighten the holidays for thousands of local low income families.

Cobb Christmas is the county's oldest and largest holiday assistance program.

Donations will be accepted at the following times and locations:

Monday, Dec. 6
* Cobb County Offices -- 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
* Durham Middle School (2891 Mars Hill Road NW, Acworth, 30101) -- 10:30 a.m.

The Reason for the Season is at Vinings Jubilee

ATLANTA -- For the past 40 years, families have traveled from near and far for the annual Vinings Christmas Tree Lighting.

Always the first Thursday after Thanksgiving, this holiday celebration may be one of the most highly anticipated events of the community. This year, it will take place on Thursday, Dec. 2 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Vinings Jubilee (4300 Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta, 30339).

The 2010 Christmas Tree Lighting promises to be bigger and better than ever, with a number of fun family activities, including train rides on the Vinings Express, pony rides, balloon twisting and seasonal face painting, along with prizes, festive music, food and drinks.

Nutcracker Holiday Market Returns to Atlanta

ATLANTA -- The annual Nutcracker Holiday Market returns to the Cobb Galleria Center (2 Galleria Parkway, Atlanta, 30339) just in time for Christmas.

The market will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19; from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20; and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21.

Holiday items for the entire family will be for sale -- everything from home decor and apparel to antiques and gardening items.
