Pedestrian struck on South Cobb Drive dies
SMYRNA, GA -- A 55-year-old Smyrna man who was struck while attempting to cross South Cobb Drive near the intersection of Waldrep Circle was pronounced dead on arrival at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
Cobb Police Sergeant Dana Pierce identified the victim as Jose Luis Zamarripa-Perez. He was struck while attempting to cross the street outside of a pedestrian crosswalk.
Pierce said the driver of the 1990 Jeep Cherokee which struck Zamarripa-Perez is not expected to be charged although the police investigation of the incident is continuing.
