Fake doctor sentenced for sexually assaulting patient

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A Douglasville man who posed as a doctor and violated a patient pleaded guilty to sexual battery charges in court Monday. He was sentenced to serve 15 years in prison.

According to the Cobb County District Attorney, 50-year-old Patrick Ogbebor posed as a physician at the Mosthouse Lab Test and Healthcare Clinic in Smyrna when he sexually assaulted a 21-year-old woman during a physical exam needed as part of her immigration process.

Officials say Ogbebor took the victim into an exam room where he inappropriately touched her, continuing even after the woman said she did not feel comfortable with what he was doing. After the exam, the woman called Smyrna police to report the assault.

“The defendant portrayed himself as a licensed medical physician who saw the opportunity to take advantage of a young immigrant woman,” said ADA Lindsay Gardner. “He used the trust people place in medical professionals to violate the most intimate parts of a woman’s body.”

On Friday, Ogbebor pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual battery, one count of sexual battery and one count of practicing medicine without a license. He will be required to register as a sex offender after and adhere to sex offender conditions of probation upon his release.
