Drowned swimmer pulled from Chattahoochee

COBB COUNTY, GA (WXIA) – Rescuers pulled the body of a missing swimmer from the Chattahoochee River Wednesday afternoon.

A desperate call for help came when a Tuesday afternoon of fun on the Chattahoochee River took a terrible turn.

The call came in just after 4 pm – 911 was alerted to people in the river that needed help and could not get out on their own. They were apparently trying to swim to a spot called Diving Rock, and got stuck.

Crews arrived from Cobb Police, Cobb Fire, the state Department of Natural Resources and from the Chattahoochee National Park. They got everyone out of the river, except for a lone male swimmer who had lost contact with his friend.
