COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- As you are out enjoying Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs facilities and activities, be sure to bring your camera and capture the fun and memories.

The 7th annual "Fun in the Park" Photo Contest will be accepting entries throughout the summer.

Cobb County residents may enter up to 10 snapshots for fantastic prizes and recognition.

SMYRNA, Ga. -- Fathers play a vital role in their children's development.

In support of dads who desire to strengthen and maintain relationships with their kids after divorce, Lance Brooks International will conduct a seminar for fathers on Thursday, Apr. 14 at 6 p.m. at the Smyrna Community Center (200 Village Green Circle, 30080).

Every year, thousands of couples divorce, resulting in numerous single parent families.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau's "Custodial Mothers and Fathers and Their Child Support: 2007," which was published in late 2009, approximately 84 percent of custodial parents are mothers.

Marietta Square Farmers Market returns in April

MARIETTA, Ga. -- The 2011 Marietta Square Farmers Market begins on Saturday, Apr. 2.

The market will take place along North Park Square in Marietta Square. It is held every Saturday, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon through Nov. 19.

According to market director Johnny Fulmer, more than 60 vendors will participate in the 2011 market, which features items that are grown, made or produced right here in Georgia.

In order to accommodate the market, North Park Square and a portion of Mill Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

TODAY: Cobb open house on regional transportation projects

MARIETTA, Ga. -- The Cobb County Board of Commissioners will host a public information open house to present the draft of a transportation projects list to submit for potential inclusion in the Regional Sales Tax vote next summer.

The open house will be on Monday, Mar. 21 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the BOC Room of the Cobb County Government (Second Floor, 100 Cherokee Street, Marietta, 30090).

There will be no formal presentation of the proposed projects.

SMYRNA, Ga. -- Green-clad merrymakers enjoyed the beautiful weather in Smyrna Market Village on Thursday, Mar. 17.

The annual St. Patrick's Day celebration included carnival rides, a DJ, live music and a redhead contest. Mayor Max Bacon even joined the fun for the much-anticipated dyeing of the fountain.

Plan your child's summer at Cobb County's camp expo

MARIETTA, GA -- It's not too early to start thinking about summer camp.

The Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department will host the Cobb Summer Camp Expo 2011 on Tuesday, Mar. 8.

The event will be at the Cobb Civic Center (548 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, 30060) from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Cobb Summer Camp Expo is a one-stop shop for summer camp programs from all over the county. Representatives from day camps, art camps, church camps, overnight camps, performing arts camps, sports camps and much more will be on hand to help residents find the perfect fit for their children.

Admission to the expo is free.
