SMYRNA, Ga. -- A new Metro Atlanta alliance could possibly put several Georgians back to work before the end of the year.

On Sept. 26, representatives from MUST Ministries and the Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration signed an agreement to launch a new training program for out-of-work residents of Cherokee and Cobb counties. This is only the second such partnership that OSHA's Atlanta-West Area office has entered.

This alliance will create a 10-hour general workplace safety course related to seasonal jobs, including warehouse work and stocking. The course will be held Oct. 24-26; OSHA and Must Ministries plan to launch a similar course in February to focus on summertime construction jobs.

The goal of these courses is to provide the unemployed with access to training resources, according to OSHA area director Andre Richards.
