Like its national cousin, this season of "Atlanta's Biggest Loser" is a couples' edition. Any kind of couple can apply -- siblings, parent/child, co-workers, friends and every pairing in between.

The deadline to apply is noon on Friday, Feb. 18 at www.atlbiggestloser.com.

"Atlanta's Biggest Loser" will officially begin on Monday, Mar. 7. Six teams of two will work with one of 11Alive's two fitness partners, D.R.E.A.M.

The Reason for the Season is at Vinings Jubilee

ATLANTA -- For the past 40 years, families have traveled from near and far for the annual Vinings Christmas Tree Lighting.

Always the first Thursday after Thanksgiving, this holiday celebration may be one of the most highly anticipated events of the community. This year, it will take place on Thursday, Dec. 2 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Vinings Jubilee (4300 Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta, 30339).

The 2010 Christmas Tree Lighting promises to be bigger and better than ever, with a number of fun family activities, including train rides on the Vinings Express, pony rides, balloon twisting and seasonal face painting, along with prizes, festive music, food and drinks.

Nutcracker Holiday Market Returns to Atlanta

ATLANTA -- The annual Nutcracker Holiday Market returns to the Cobb Galleria Center (2 Galleria Parkway, Atlanta, 30339) just in time for Christmas.

The market will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19; from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20; and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21.

Holiday items for the entire family will be for sale -- everything from home decor and apparel to antiques and gardening items.

Bon Appétit! from The Atlanta Opera

ATLANTA -- Join The Atlanta Opera on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cook's Warehouse (Ansley Mall -- 1544 Piedmont Road, Suite 403-R, Atlanta, 30324) for Bon Appétit!, a 30-minute operetta based on Julia Child's popular television show.

The audience will be transported to Julia Child's famous 1960s kitchen-studio, where they will watch mezzo-soprano Susan Nicely whip up some giggles and comedic-fromage. Following the performance, guests will sample Julia's treats, and will have the opportunity to shop in the store and sign up for future cooking classes. Attendees will receive a 10% discount on in-store purchases made that evening. There will also be giveaways.

Admission is a $25 tax-deductible donation to The Atlanta Opera.
