SMYRNA: Local family dances to help sick kids, fight obesity |
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
SMYRNA -- Three-year-old Zahrya Toregano wants you to see her Michael Jackson moves because she's loves dancing. So does her family. That's why they entered the Primrose Schools' National Family Dance-off. Now, the Toregano 5 has snagged a slot in the finals, and they need the public to vote for them.
Zahrya is joined in the video by her mom, Raiya and her dad, Corey. In addition, her aunt and uncle join the fun.
The Toreganos learned about the Dance-off from Zahrya's school, Primrose School of Smyrna West, and jumped at the chance to participate.
"I love it because it's to fight childhood obesity," said Raiya Toregano, Zahrya's mother. "A lot of children don't get out and they're active nowadays. What better way to incorporate physical activity with dance."
The Family Dance-Off is a benefit for Children's Miracle Network Hospital. If the Toreganos win, the grand prize will include a donation of $30,000 to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and a $5,000 cash prize. Second prize wins $3,000 and a $20,000 donation to Children's, while third prize wins $1,500 and a $15,000 donation.
"Now everyone has to vote for us, in order to get our votes up," Raiya said.
